Behind the name…

Apocalypse Guide Service

The name originates from the “Call Sign” that we used in Afghanistan during my combat tour in 2011. I was apart of HMLA-267 Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron and our call sign was “Apocalypse”. During our deployment we provided close air support for troops on the ground as well as armed escort for med evacuations provided by “Dust Off”. This time was a monumental time in my life and I wanted to incorporate it into my brand. The Spade that is the main focus of all our logos was our squadrons logo, this was painted on all our aircraft and how you distinguished, from the ground what aircraft belongs to what squadron.

Captain Tom

A graduate from South Umpqua High School in Myrtle Creek, OR. Tom joined the United States Marine Corps in 2007 where he served six years as a Helicopter Mechanic. In 2013 he was medically retired after an 11 month battle with bone cancer. He has spent most of his life fishing from the beginning in the reservoirs of Colorado, to the Pacific Ocean.

His true passion is chasing Anadromous fish in the Pacific northwest. Steelhead lead the way particularly due to the fact that’s how he cut his teeth on big fish!

“Nothing makes you feel more alive then a cold winter morning, reel screaming with a giant Umpqua steelhead on the other end of the line.”

As a senior in high school Tom learned that people got paid to take people fishing for Salmon and Steelhead….. and he has been chasing that dream since!

From the Guide -

“Its been a life goal to be a guide, and as I finally reach the mark I want to go forward and ensure that all my clients not only enjoy their trips, but become life long friends. I want to teach and help people as my mentors did for me. I owe my knowledge to a list of people, but the top five that stand out to me and that I want to thank would be my Grandpa Jerry, Jarrod Chandler, Travis Marsh, Kyle Brockman and Kyle Barklow. All these men have had an impact on my fishing career and I can not thank them enough.”

As a veteran Tom plans to give back to the veteran community in the best way he knows how- through fishing. He has plans to give away fishing trips for veterans and trips to non-profits for veterans to help with the cause.

We look forward to fishing with you!
